Which brand?
- Ring is the most popular and has the most options. Some features, like saved video history, need a monthly plan.
- Google Nest works nicely if you already use Google or Nest speakers and thermostats.
- Blink is usually the most affordable, and works with Alexa.
The best choice is often the one that matches the cameras or speakers you already have, so everything lives in one app.
Battery or wired?
Battery (wireless) doorbells are the easiest to install almost anywhere. You’ll recharge them every few months, or add a small solar panel. Wired models run off your home’s doorbell wiring instead. We focus on wireless installs, so if you have your heart set on a wired model, ask first and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a job for us.
Check your Wi-Fi at the front door
Stand at the front door with your phone and run a speed test. If the signal is weak, the doorbell will be slow to load and miss motion. It may need a Wi-Fi extender or a mesh point near the front of the house.
